Some good news for Yahoo email users…
Yahoo Inc said on Sunday it was giving its e-mail users more ways to reach friends and online contacts by allowing them to trade messages with mobile phone users.
The new e-mail-to-phone connection is one of the features the Internet media giant plans to add as it makes available to the more than 250 million Yahoo Mail users a new version of the world`s most popular e-mail program in coming weeks.
There was a big Skype outaga last week. And now we see a problem in Windows Genuine Advantage. Technology is so interesting, that’s for sure.
Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is an anti-piracy system enacted by Microsoft that enforces Microsoft Windows online validation of the authenticity of several recent Microsoft operating systems when accessing several Microsoft Windows services, such as Windows Update, and downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.
We contacted our sources at Microsoft, who told us off the record that the company is aware of a major WGA server outage affecting users across the globe. The Windows Genuine Advantage support forum has exploded with complaints, as a result, and Phil Liu, WGA project manager, says that he won’t sleep until the problem is fixed. Windows Vista and XP are affected, 32- and 64-bit versions.
Microsoft is telling users who are affected that they should “try again” later, with some support techs telling readers that Microsoft is aiming to have a fix in place by Tuesday, August 28. That would mean the outage will last more than three days, given that it started last night (and may have started earlier; we’re hearing reports of some users running into this earlier in the week, on limited bases).
I just got an Unlimited data plan from MAXIS on my mobile. I pretty much do not need my computer anymore since I do so much with my mobile phone. The neatest thing is that I can even watch naughty movies:) It is pretty neat, it’s called Mobile TV. Intel has released their new CPU – Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900. According to engadget, the chip might offer a 800MHz front-side-bus, throw out 44-watts of power, and arrive at OEMs unlocked and overclock too.
Intel opened GC Press Day with a press conference, announcing the Core 2 Extreme X7900. This processor relies on the old 65 nanometre die codenamed Merom, but with updated specs. Unlike most of the models, X7900 gets to its 2.8GHz clock using the 800 MHz FSB, and 667 MHz should become thing of the past. Thermal envelope of 45W was held with this part as well, since it eats up 44W of current.
