Taipei, Taiwan—-July 21, 2006—-CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, announced today ownership of a patent for technology that is essential to the Blu-ray Disc standard. The patent relates to the specifications for interactive content over a network for prerecorded Blu-ray Discs, BD-RO specification part 3-2, the BD-J profile 2.
CyberLink recently attended the first meeting of the Blu-ray Disc patent holders meeting, which was held to formulate a joint patent license for Blu-ray Disc technologies. The joint license is designed to simplify the licensing arrangements for the Blu-ray Disc format and is being managed by MPEG LA on behalf of 17 essential patent owners, including CyberLink.
