Making Money Online

Making money on the internet is not easy but this article shows how some people are making tons by having adsense on their website. Sigh…I wish I was one of them…

Take Andrew Leyden, former House Commerce Committee counsel and founder of a dot-com venture that failed, who started PodcastDirectory.com, a search engine for podcasts. As the site’s popularity rose from a hundred hits a month in 2004 to nearly a million now, Leyden started making the equivalent of an entry-level government worker’s salary — $30,000 to $40,000 a year — simply because people clicked on ads. That allowed him to work at home in Chesapeake Beach, Md., trying to make more money by attracting still more traffic to his site.

Pico automated CD-Ripper for iPods

Here is a cool, new gadget that allows you to transfer your entire CD collection to your iPod while barely lifting a finger. This automated CD-Ripper is called the Pico.

Here’s how the Pico works…You stack your CD’s onto its 25 disc spindle, and then sit back, relax, and watch as the Pico automatically rips the contents of each disc to your hard drive. From there you can transfer the music files to your iPod. The Pico also doubles as an automated DVD/CD duplicator allowing you to burn up to 12 CD’s or 6 DVD’s in an hour…again, barely lifting a finger.

The Pico doubles as the world’s smallest automated DVD/CD duplicator and allows any small business owner, musician, filmmaker, teacher, or salesperson to duplicate (burn) up to 25 copies at a time for projects or presentations.

The basic Pico duplicator costs $699 and the Riptastic software option is an additional $99. The Pico is now available direct from Disc Makers

Amazon Omakase Affiliate Links Program

Amazon.com has unveiled the much anticipated, at least to some people, context sensitive ad box which works similar to Google AdSense.

A brief explanation about the Omakase

Omakase – leave it up to us! Omakase links will show an Associate’s visitors what they’re most likely to buy based on Amazon’s unique understanding of the site, the user, and the page itself. To create Omakase links, simply modify the template and appearance elements below and copy the resulting code on to your page. Then leave the rest to Omakase!

To get to the Omakase links area, just login into your Amazon Associates accounts and click on “Build Links”

New version of the wide-area file services from Packeteer, Inc.

Packeteer Inc has launched a new version of the wide-area file services, WAFS, technology it acquired when it bought Tacit Networks Inc in May, adding features that take advantage of the fact that the WAFS platform runs on a Windows operating system.

One of the issues raised by competitors after Packeteer acquired Tacit was how it would deal with the fact that its own WAN optimization/app acceleration devices (the PacketShaper range) run on a real-time OS while Tacit’s iShared products run on Windows. Far from promising integration onto a single platform, however, the Cupertino, California-based company said the two portfolios are essentially designed for different purposes. It said PacketShaper goes into a network core, whereas the iShared technology goes into both branch offices and HQ.

That affirmation can perhaps be questioned; after all, PacketShaper may well be optimization the link out to a branch office, just as an iShared platform is, the difference being that WAFS addresses storage-related protocols like CIFS, NFS and MAPI whereas WAN optimization/app acceleration works on HTTP, FTP and others. Nonetheless, Packeteer has decided to make a virtue of necessity with Tacit’s Microsoft reliance, and as such can argue that its WAFS offering has the edge on others (Cisco’s Actona technology, Riverbed and Expand’s DiskSites product) which are on other OSes such as Linux.

Is Click-Fraud Transparency Good for Google Inc ?

Arguably the worst fear is fear of the unknown. With conflicting
reports being published about the extent of click-fraud, investors are
left in a position where they simply don’t know how deep the rabbit’s
hole goes.

This is why Google’s announcement that it will start revealing
information to advertisers about click-fraud is such good news.
Advertisers will be armed with the information necessary to better
police click-fraud and feed information back to Google about additional
fraud they may be suspecting. This in-turn will enable Google to
continuously refine its fraud-detection algorithms.

At the end of the day, investors are concerned about a massive exodus
of advertisers away from pay-per-click models because of click-fraud.
By instilling greater confidence in the accuracy of its reporting,
Google helps ensure that will never happen. And it yet again has shown
that it is more responsive to market risks than its competitors.
