Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid married ex-television presenter Normala Shamsudin on Thursday night at the house of Normala’s adopted relative in Kuala Lumpur.
The solemnisation ceremony, which was held in secrecy, was attended by close relatives and friends from both sides. The ceremony was also attended by the Mufti of Perlis Datuk Alim Panglima Mat Jahya Hussin and Normala’s father Shamsudin Md Zin.
Azmi’s press secretary Tajussin Saman said the couple thanked everyone who had sent congratulatory messages to them.
“They however appealed to everyone to respect their privacy in the next few days,??? he said in a statement.
