Poseidon Computer System Saves Drowning Girl

This Poseidon Computer System should have been installed in the Kelana Mahkota swimming pool. It might have saved the girl (Bianca Thio Yee Shen) that drowned there on 1 Aug 2005.

A 10-year-old girl has been saved from drowning by a computer system designed to raise the alarm when swimmers get into difficulties. The girl, from Rochdale, was at the deep end of the pool in Bangor, north Wales, when she sank to the bottom.

Amazon sells sex toys

Amazon Sex Sectionhas started selling sex toys on its website as part of a drive to broaden its product range.

Visitors to the US Amazon.com site can now choose from 37,000 items in the

Sex and Sensualitysub-section. The current best selling items are lubricants and condoms, with no vibrators making it into the top 100 best sellers.

A spokeswoman for Amazon.co.uk confirmed the move but said there were no plans to introduce a similar section for UK customers.

She emphasised that the items were part of the Health and Personal Care section and would be treated as such.

The move has prompted a slight change in Amazon’s sales terms. Its returns policy, recognised as very good by the standards of the industry, covers very few of the products on offer.

In addition the ‘share your own customer images’ section is no longer in operation, although the engine which logs similar purchases and the user review section have been retained.

Malaysian police sets up CCTV on the LDP highway

Darn. With petrol prices going up, paying summons will make my pockets really empty. I might as well drive slower to save petrol and save on paying the summons.

I wonder if this is true. I got it on an email from a friend. So dont quote me on this. Its a Legal Disclaimer and I don’t want to get sued.

Please note that effective today the LDP highway speed limit will be
monitored by the CCTV. The speed limit is 90 kmh and if you go above
that at 91 kmh, the camera will auto record and pass to police. The
few identified areas where the CCTV is monitoring are as follows:

1) on the overhead pedestrian bridge in front of Kelana Jaya LRT
station, monitoring the straight stretch

2) Somewhere near Western Digital (CCTV might be on Western Digital),
monitoring the straight stretch in front of the Kelana Jaya Seafood

3) On IKEA, Monitoring straight stretch in front of IKEA and 1 Utama

4) On the double overhead bridge, monitoring the stretch between the
Puchong toll and the Federal Highway turnoff.

5) In the tunnel near SS2 (please note that the speed limit is 60 kmh,
not 90 kmh)

Malaysia celebrates Independance Day

photo hosting and image hosting by ImageVenue.com

Happy Merdeka Day. Today is the day my country Malaysia , gets its independance from the British (31 Aug 1957). We’v been having 48 years of great peace and prosperity. I pray that we will continue to enjoy this. Happy blogging and happy holiday even tho’ its only 1 day.

In January 1956, Tunku Abdul Rahman led a delegation comprising four members of The Alliance coalition and four Rulers’ representatives to London, to negotiate on Malaya’s independence. After three weeks of negotiations, the London Independence Agreement was signed on Feb 8, 1956. The British Government had agreed to give Malaya her independence on the August 31 of the following year.

When Tunku Abdul Rahman and his delegation returned from London, the happy news was announced at Padang Merdeka, Bandar Hilir Melaka, – the place “where it all began???. The announcement was received by all with utmost joy.

The people’s objective and dreams were reached on the night of August 30, 1957 at the Padang Selangor Club (now Dataran Merdeka) where the Union Jack flag was lowered for the last time and the Malayan flag was proudly raised.

The following day a new independent nation was born with Tunku Abdul Rahman declaring the Malayan Independence at the Merdeka Stadium. The historical event was attended by thousands of citizens, the Malay Rulers, the Duke of Gloucester (representing the Queen) and other representatives from the British government. The day was a most important and glorious day for all Malayans (then) and Malaysians today, for after 446 long years of colonisation, our land finally became a sovereign independent nation.

The first and foremost achievement that every Malaysian should be proud of is our success in claiming our Independence. While many other nations had to endure wars, riots, revolutions and unrest before and after gaining independence, our struggle for Independence was concluded in a short series of genteel negotiations. The secret lies in the pure harmony among Malayans, despite the various ethnic groups, cultures and religions. This courageous unity has become a crucial element for the nation in making Independence a reality.

When Malaya gained Independence on August 31, 1957, the world community, and even a section of the Malayan community then were not convinced with Malaya’s ability to remain peaceful with a community structure that is of different religion, race and background.

This assumption was based on the fact that many states of the world at that time could not solve their ethnic problems. Critics believed that if the world could not solve this problem, then how could Malaya, a young and inexperienced nation, survive with three major races and dozens of other ethnic groups.

But our leaders and a large majority of people then had essentially thought otherwise. Rather than being obstacles to peace and Independence, the rich diversity was turned into strength that over the last five decades has become one of Malaysia’s unique qualities.
