THOUSANDS of Crazy Frog games and puzzles for kids have been withdrawn from sale – after toy makers failed to notice his dangly bits were clearly visible.
The irksome chart-topping blue amphibian always “goes commando” – though a black square preserves his modesty whenever he appears in TV ads.
And retailers say the oversight over The Annoying Thing’s genitalia is a “major marketing cock-up” days before the products were due in stores.
Bosses at Rocket Toys and Games – York-based specialists in traditional family board games – yesterday admitted: “We didn’t realise the Crazy Frog’s image included his tackle.”
Now they have recalled 50,000 The Annoying Thing card games for eight-year-olds as well as jigsaws aimed at the five-plus age group so the offensive appendage can be removed.
Rocket managing director Graham Thornton said: “We thought the Far East makers would take it off for production – but unfortunately it was left on.
“So, rather than upset mums and dads who will be buying these toys for their children, we’ve sent the lot back for some cosmetic surgery.
“We considered using cover-up stickers. But kids might have removed them – which would have been worse.”
The £12.99 card game was to go on sale at HMV stores from next week and the 60 and 100-piece jigsaws were set to hit all major retailers by August.
